Chandelier Care & Maintenance Guide

A chandelier is the centerpiece of a room — and like any centerpiece, it only takes a little regular care to keep it brilliant for years. Dust and airborne residue can soften the clarity of crystal and glass, especially in dining rooms and kitchens.
Always disconnect power before cleaning any fixture. For most crystal and glass pieces, a soft, dry microfiber cloth handles routine dusting. For a deeper clean, lightly dampen the cloth with water and a drop of mild glass cleaner, and avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the fixture — overspray can reach the wiring.
Brass and metal frames develop a light patina over time, which is a natural part of the material aging gracefully rather than a flaw. A dry cloth is usually enough; save polish for unlacquered brass if you prefer a brighter finish.
Have hardwired fixtures inspected by a licensed electrician every few years, particularly in humid rooms or outdoor installations. For material-specific guidance, see our full Care Guide.
